Therapy
Wey Valley College offer 1:1 and small group therapy sessions that incorporate aspects of talking, playing, art, music and problem solving with a solution focused approach. The first few weeks consist of a therapeutic induction with the aim of settling the young person and opening up an initial dialogue. At this stage the young person can consider a variety of aspects of their lives and what they might consider to be barriers, problems, recurring patterns, strengths or successes. Past experiences can be considered if useful to process and work through for future growth. The young person can create manageable aims in order to offer a focus to the work. The sessions themselves are person-centred, which allows the young person to take control of the process. Overall, the intervention is flexible to meet the needs, age and issues of the young person.
