The Cubs

In KS1 our focus is all about supporting children within a nurturing environment. Cubs is a classroom where pupils, under the guidance of experienced staff, are able to start understanding and learning how to manage their own behaviour through a variety of strategies and techniques. Small class sizes and an increased staff to pupil ratio ensures all pupils are given support at every opportunity to access their learning or at least be in a place ready to learn. 

Daily sensory circuit programmes are delivered in which pupils access physical, skill based and calming activities at the start of each day. Sensory breaks and movement breaks are offered to pupils if they require them to meet their ongoing needs.

Our curriculum focuses on the key subjects of reading, writing and maths. All KS1 children are taught daily phonics. Afternoon lessons are topic based which include practical and creative activities, covering most aspects of the wider curriculum.
